The Kipperman Residence is a home in the Engineer Village Subdivision across from Durango Mountain Resort.   The site was a challenge as there was 35’ of fall from one corner of the house to the other.  The determination of the height to be in compliance of subdivision requirements on such a site were difficult as well. The main living area features a staircase that was inspired by heavy framing found in mine buildings found in the San Juan Mountains and a large kitchen/dining/living room within a large space reminiscent of mining camp buildings.  The lower level features a bunk room for visiting kids and a guest bedroom.  A recreation room with an accompanying deck takes advantage of the views to the north and west.  Another feature is there are two master suites, each with fantastic views, large master bath areas and closets as well as a living room area for each suite.  The siding also brings back traditional materials of the area with large board siding with chinking, metal accent roofing, and large scale post and beams.
